Nestor J. Charneco

Nestor Charneco, age 78, of DeBary, Florida passed away on Thursday February 23, 2023. Nestor was born in Moca, Puerto Rico on July 10, 1944 to parents Maria Caban and Juan Charneco. At age nine his family moved to the Bronx, New York where he grew up and attended school. He experienced and was influenced by all the culture and artistic environment of New York City. Nestor graduated from The High School of Art and Design in NYC and CUNY College of Art and Technology. After marriage in 1967 to his beloved wife Mercedes, they moved to Ronkonkoma, Long Island, NY to raise their family. In 1995, to be closer to the rest of the family, they made their home in Debary, Florida, where he resided until his passing.

Nestor Charneco was a Fine Artist working in both Painting and Digital Collage. He had an extensive career in Commercial Graphic Art in NYC. Nestor had a vibrant passion for art, writing, reading, music, philosophy, life, and humankind.

He is survived by his wife Mercedes Torres Charneco, their daughters Amy Charneco and Darlene Charneco, his grandchildren John Bordas and Tara Bordas, and great grandson Remus. He is also survived by his siblings Josephine C. Deyne, William Charneco, Angel Charneco and their Aunt Ana Salas.

A funeral will be held on Saturday March 11, 2023 at 9:30 am at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens at 1295 Saxon Blvd. Orange City, FL.

A Celebration of Life & Art will be held on Saturday March 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at Gateway Center For The Arts at 880 N US Hwy 17-92, DeBary, FL.

An exhibit of Nestor's artwork will be on display in the gallery until Tuesday March 21, 2023.
