Peggy moved to Florida from New Jersey in 1987.
She will be missed. She loved life, enjoyed gambling whether on the Gambling Ship, Cruise Ships or the Hard Rock Cafe Casino in Tampa, Florida. She enjoyed day trips to the many Theaters in the surrounding areas.
If there was a function at the various organizations of which she was a member, they had a skit or show, she was in it. One of her most memorable performances was Bubbles.
To all of her doctors, and there were quite a few, she was a poster child, you name it, she had it. Peggy never let any of her health problems keep her down. Peggy has been fighting cancer since 1975.
Peggy met Al Orlando here in Florida, they were married for 14 years, they traveled all over, went on many cruises, they were very very happy. She still has a very close relationship with Al's son Raymond and his wife Anna Maria. Unfortunately, Al became a cancer patient, Peggy was his nurse twenty-four seven. During his illness she suffered a heart attack, Peggy bounced back. After Al's passing, she had a stroke and did bounce back from that illness, She came down with cancer of the lip, which kept coming back, Dr. Russell Shaw (no relation) operated on the lip three times, it was completely gone after the third surgery. Her other surgeries consisted of a tumor in her head, back for the problems of her back. With all her problems, she continued to go on, she did not get discouraged. Her faith in the Lord kept her going. Her most recent problem was the collection of mucous in her throat. That was a major problem for her, no matter what the doctors gave, nothing helped and therefore has trouble eating and drinking.
Peggy had no immediate family in Florida. We her extended family will miss her. She enjoyed being with three of Theresa's grandchildren, Madysen, Dalton and Colt. Whenever they visited Theresa, they had to see Auntie Peggy and get her into Nanni Theresa's pool to play games, volley ball, chicken, etc. Dalton would place Peggy on his shoulders, The games they played, she would fall into the water, and they were thrilled. Playing volley ball, Peggy and Theresa would miss the ball and fall into the water, the children thought it was funny.
Jean Geiger, Peggy's long time friend, they worked together many years in New Jersey, was the sister she never had. Jean will miss the evening phones calls daily, from Peggy. Jean lives in Palm Harbor, Florida on the west coast, always drove herself to be with Peggy. Jean's visits were always for two weeks or more.
Peggy, Theresa and I, Carmela, will miss your morning phone calls to let us know you were ok. If there was a problem, we were there in minutes. Theresa and Peggy were a mother and daughter duo. Jean and I were sisters. Phyllis and Lucy will miss driving you to the doctors, they were our up. We all shared the good and bad times with her.
Peggy you'll also be missed by the Barone family, Janice, her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as cousins Millie and Larry.
Well Peg, it's all over for you, no more doctors, surgeries, injections into your right eyeball to try to help the Macular Degeneration, no more suturing of the lip, no more chemo and or radiation. You are FREE. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.
