Steven Dennis Huber, 72, of Deltona, Florida joined his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 9th, 2021. Although his friends and family miss his physical presence in their lives, they are confident that Steve is rejoicing with the Lord that he sincerely loved and strived to follow on a daily basis.
He was born on Long Island on January 19, 1949 in Port Jefferson, New York to the late George Ernest Huber and the late Frances Rene Schafer. He previously worked as an electrician and salesman, but most recently enjoyed his work as a flea market vendor. This work allowed him to combine his gift of sales, his love of the outdoors and his natural ability to connect with people.
Steve enjoyed repurposing objects and was recycling before it even had a name. He saw beauty in objects that many others did not. He loved the outdoors and preferred to be there from dawn to dusk. He appreciated any body of water and found peace just being near it, especially Florida’s intracoastal waterway. Steve had a soft spot in his heart for all animals, cats in particular, and he rescued dozens through the years.
Those who knew Steve could count upon his honesty and humility. He took excellent care of his best friend and wife, Betty, and enjoyed traveling near and far with her. He taught his children by example, and was proud of everything that they had accomplished. He was a corny jokester and a “Big Kid” at heart. He cherished his grandchildren and they loved him. He was their human jungle gym and he never tired of pushing swings, swimming, bike rides and exploring the outdoors with them.
He was preceded in death by brothers Glenn Huber and Jeffrey Huber. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Betty Stallings Huber; his daughter Stefani Monn (Scott); his son Gregory Huber (Jennifer); his nephew Jason Stallings (Jessica); his sister Kathy Ozark (Dwaine); his grandchildren Cape Kwong (Justin), Cooper Monn, Jade Huber, Cassi Monn, and Janson Huber.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 21, 2021 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Robert Anderson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to please consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Steve’s memory.
