

Walt was born on January 9, 1951, the fourth son of James and Betty Miller of Bryn Mawr, PA. During his high school years and beyond, he was an active member of the volunteer firefighters in Berwyn, PA. He held many jobs during his life, including shop worker for the legendary Grumpy Jenkins, a construction worker, gas station attendant and finally, a police officer and ticket agent for Amtrak. He retired from Amtrak in 2008.
He was an avid train collector with a knack for making the most elaborate train platforms. He loved to work with his hands and to work with wood. He made many houses for his train platforms and some furniture for his house. He was an annual pass holder for Walt Disney World for many years and enjoyed visiting the parks as often as possible, even if it was just for dinner and fireworks.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Teresa. He is also survived by two brothers, Don & Doug, by three nieces – Karen, Mickee and Becky, by four nephews – David, Danny, Steven and Vincent and by several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two children from a previous marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bruce.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Walter’s name.
