

Wayne A. Alexander, of DeLand, Florida, passed away on November 24, 2025, at AdventHealth Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City, Florida, at the age of 90. He was born on November 9, 1935, in Peoria, Illinois, and attended Manual High School in Peoria.
On March 23, 1957, Wayne married Loretta Ruppert at First Christian Church in Peoria, Illinois. He was immensely proud of their 68 years of marriage.
Wayne worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was recently honored with a plaque recognizing his remarkable 70-year membership in the Union, an achievement he held with great pride.
Wayne loved visiting Florida on vacations, and over the years the family enjoyed many memorable trips together. Those journeys were filled with shared stories, laughter, and the joy of exploring new places, creating cherished memories that will be carried in their hearts. He developed a love for Florida early on, eventually relocating there after retirement. He worked part-time for many years at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT, where he enjoyed meeting people and sharing stories. He especially loved taking Disney cruises.
Wayne had a lifelong passion for sports memorabilia and hosted numerous sports collectible shows. A devoted Los Angeles Dodgers fan, he also enjoyed operating his own Alex’s Collectibles booth at the Daytona Flea Market for several years. Coin collecting was another favorite hobby.
Wayne cherished his furry companions, especially his beloved dog from earlier years, Skipper. Over the years, he shared his home with many treasured cats, including Cleo, who survives him and has since found a loving new home. In recent years, Wayne remained active at Woodland Towers, where he served as the library manager and enjoyed flower gardening.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, George Alexander; his mother, Harriet Winslow; his brothers, Walter Winslow and Donald Winslow; his son Ricky Alexander; and his daughter-in-law Cathy Alexander.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Loretta Alexander; his three children, Christy (Jeff) Burns, Kerry (Shawn) McCrudden, and Randy Alexander; eight grandchildren, Michael, Eric, Nick, Michelle, Andrea, Andy, Adam, and Angela; and ten great-grandchildren, Everley, Porter, Brennan, Ariana, Kiara, Elias, Thor, Athena, Aries, and Edward.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens, located at 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL, on January 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow.
