Barbara Jean Harrison, 73, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 9, 2021. She was born August 4, 1947 in Forsyth County to Geroge and Vivian Adams Harrison. Mrs. Harrison was a graduate of Lees McRae College, Appalachain State University, and received her Masters from Appalachain State University. A few years later, she received her BS in Civil Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She worked for 29 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Senior Civil Project Engineer. Mrs. Harrison enjoyed researching geneaology and loved taking care of her “furbabies”. She devoted her life in service to others by volunteering to help those who were in need.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Harrison and by her brother, Lee Harrison. Surviving are her mother, Vivian A. Harrison; sisters, Nancy H. Todd, Pat Harrison, Rebecca (Tony) Hine; 3 nieces, Christy Glenn, Jone Todd, Haley Hine; a nephew, Michael Glenn; and lots of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 18, 2021 at Center Memorial Cemetery of Center United Methodist Church in Yadkinville, NC by Brother Lawrence Warden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may either be made to the Yadkin County Historical Society, PO Box 1250, Yadkinville, NC 27055 or to a charity of the donors choice.
