Brian Joseph Mast passed away at St. Vincent's Hospital, on June 7, 2020, after a short illness. He was born in Decatur, Illinois at St. Mary's Hospital, on July 6, 1976. His birth brought great joy to his mother Terri and his father, Joe.
Brian has a degree in Graphic Design, from Florida State College of Jacksonville. He worked many years in this field, but in January 2020, he returned to the college to study Logistics. Brian had a zest for life that included spending time with his family, art, photography, historic architecture, music, fishing and his dog Joseph. He was also a big believer in giving back. He volunteered his design work to several churches in West Jacksonville and was an organ donor.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Joe Mast, who died in 2008 as a result of Agent Orange.
his father's death greatly affected the rest of his life. Brian is survived by his mother; Terri Mast of Green Cove Springs, his sister; Stacy Dorsey, and niece; Juliana, both of Largo, Florida. His paternal grandmother; Marie Mast, aunt; Cheryl Ewing both of Jonesborough, Tennessee, maternal aunt; Debra Stein of Santa Barbara, California, aunt; Kim Dalton of Middleburg, great aunt/godmother; Lettie Tays of Mattoon, Illinois. Brian has numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins throughout Florida, Tennessee, Illinois, and California, who will feel his absence. Brian will also be missed by his long-time friends; Michael Brim of Jacksonville and Howard Miller of Green Cove Springs.
St. Vincent's Hospital gave Brian excellent care and I want to thank the nurses and doctors who were with him in his final hours.
Brian will be laid to rest in the family plot early next year in Mattoon, Illinois along side his father, maternal grandparents and great grandparents. A gathering of his family will celebrate his life at that time.
