Just want to say how much I miss you my sweet boy. Mom

Thinking of Brian and his family. He was a delightful little boy and young man.

I miss Brian I think about him . I remember him as my first love in 12 th grade . I grew up he did too and we still talked up until a few years ago I often tried to reach out to him. I know he was a beautiful man Like his father I will never forget him . He and I share a special story . I have peace knowing that he’s with his father that he admired and loved so very much.  I love you Brian give Joe a hug for me.

Just yesterday I learned that Brian Mast has gone from this world. I am overwhelmed with sadness for his family and friends and all of us.  I love reading the heartfelt tributes from those who knew him. I have learned more about what a wonderful, interesting, thoughtful man he was and that he was such a positive influence in the world in his own quiet way.       I knew Brian as a young child in Springfield Il. Terri and I shared an office, sometimes rides to work, and were and are friends. I learned a lot about the joys, concerns, and intensity of  love in being a parent from Terri.  Brian was a beautiful child and it is no surprise that he grew into a handsome man. His smile was so cute and engaging. And sometimes his expressions and reactions gave you a glimpse that he understood more than you might think! Terri had so many cute stories about Brian, some I can still remember and they make me smile. One time Terri and 3 or 4 yr old Brian were at my home. We were having a meal with fresh spinach. Brian was suspicious that I was trying to feed him leaves from a tree. He gave me a knowing smile and could not be convinced otherwise. We visited Terri and family in Fla years after they moved. Brian was a teenager and my son about 6  yrs younger. He was so good to the little kid and made quite an impression on my son who still remembers him fondly and the fun time he had in great detail. I regret I did not have the opportunity to know Brian better as he grew into a fine young man. He will always be very special to me. My heart goes out to  all who knew and loved Brian.  

I was a friend of Brian, Brian and I shared a certain nonconformity, we were never ” normal”. We both “marched to a different drummer”, which is never easy in our Society where all people should love money and devote their lives to the art of making money. It's hard to explain that the goal of your life isn't chasing a dream of riches. That treasures can be found in a second hand store or a garage sale. That small, humble things can be as precious as gold and diamonds. Brian was so very generous and finding special somethings for his friends or grandmother everyone else overlooked, in that he was “good person”. He saw a different world than the rest of us - who are too busy in this rat race of life. I was proud to call Brian a good friend and now I miss him very much.
His mother was one of the most loving parents son could ever have had. Her mother’s love was like no other, she would have moved mountains for him. He was able to acquire a beautiful Mark Chagall painting/ print, that he had to work very hard for, and he was so very proud of that! His dog and he we're a formidable combination, and he loved and cared for Joseph sometime at the expense of things that he might have wanted.


Words can’t express the mixed emotions that we go through when someone dear to us is taken tragically. Naturally we want them here with us but he is in a better place with no suffering and pure joy, reunited with loved ones. Our lives were better because he was a part of our family. The world is darker￼ but heaven is much brighter now. His kindness, love, and infectious joy will be greatly missed. No matter how much time had passed between visits, when we spoke it felt like no time had passed and he was always sincere with his love and kind heart. He is a true reflection of my Uncle Joe and Aunt Terri. He will be greatly missed until we meet again. 

I met Brian twice.  First at his Dad's funeral and second when he purchased his home. I was out with his mother  Terri and we stopped to visit him . He had a lovely home. He was always pleasant and jovial .  He was a well adjusted happy young man.  So very loved by his parents . And with his Dad's passing, Terri was left to fulfill the role of  Mom and Dad providing endless amounts of love and care. Brian knew he was loved unconditionally.  He knew he could count on his Mom no matter what.
As parents we never stop caring, loving or worrying about our children no matter how old they get.  Our need to love and protect has no age limit.   And I know this was how Terri  felt and behaved.  She loved him deeply and wanted to be there for him always.  
Brian will be missed. And my heart hurts for the loss of Brian and for the grief and pain that Terri feels, as no parent wants to bury a child.  This is a very sad time.  I am deeply saddened .
May the good Lord bestow peace and comfort to Terri.

Brian, my sweet cousin. I was heartbroken to hear of your passing. Was so looking forward to spending more time with you when we move back to FL for good in Sep when Michael retires. So proud of the fine young man you grew up to be. Only wished we lived closer to have spent more time together 🙁 I remember when our family moved to FL and I was your sitter for a while.  I remember you, me, Cat, and Joe playing in your swimming pool at the house you lived in by Lakeside. You, Aunt Terri, and Uncle Joe made our families move to FL comfortable, exciting, and fun. I am so sad you are not here, I didn’t realize you were sick 😔 I love you very much and know we will see each other again and spend eternity with our Heavenly Father, all our family, and friends In Heaven our true home. RIP sweet cousin until we are reunited. Aunt Terri I am so sorry, my heart aches imagining the pain you are experiencing. I love you very much. My dear Cousin Brian, I’ve been in such disbelief over your passing that I have just laid in my bed at night thinking about Why this had to happen?  In 2012 , Your Precious Mother my Cousin Terri invited Me to come to Florida to try & get a fresh start in Life, opening Her Home to Me, & I was & still to this day I am eternally grateful unto Her.  I got settled  & it was so nice because You came over almost daily to visit. You would bring Joseph & He was as big as Me !  But He would listen to Daddy say “Down Joseph, No!” But I am a dog lover myself so I didn’t mind. I loved just chatting with You for a bit while You cleaned the pool for Mom & whatever else  You could help Her with. I admired the devotion & love You showed Her. Also, as a Mother myself, I knew You were the light of Her life. You see, Our Children May grow up but You’ll always be  “Our little Boys..” 😢 We went out to eat a few times & When We went to Whities  Fish House on the water , I’d always have to go investigate hoping I could see a gator!  You of course knew that~ as I was always on the Hunt!  I remember your love for Art so one day We went to this Museum You loved, & showed Me some beautiful paintings! Also, You had some cool pictures in your House You were so proud of. This is so difficult & sad to write because I still can’t conceive I’ve lost two cousins now within 3 months. The Lord has been doing this quite often to Our Family ~ I don’t understand His reasons and it saddens me so much. I’m not sad for You because You’re  so Happy in Heaven but my heart breaks for Your Mother, as it’s such an unbearable , deep pain, beyond words. Also,  for Stacy & the people left to carry on. Someone Once said to Me, after My Son passed~ “Have You ever wondered that maybe God thought Your Son was just too beautiful for this earth so HE took Him Home to Heaven..” I took comfort in those words as it was more of a statement than a question. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to Brian’s family for this great loss of a loving son, grandson, brother, nephew,  and uncle...and to his friends. 
Terri and I grew up together. I was her maid of honor. My daughter was 5 years old when sweet Brian was born.  
Brian always had a big, welcoming smile on his little face. He loved everyone, and as he grew in age, his smile and personality only brightened as he continued to embrace those with whom he came in contact. 
He loved life and was so very devoted to his mother, father, and sister.
The last time I saw Brian  was at a Thanksgiving Dinner where he took great joy in making sure everyone was comfortable and happy. 
Brian will be greatly missed by all who had the tremendous blessing of being a part of his and his parents’ lives. 
May the God of all comfort give you His comfort and peace knowing Brian’s desire also is for you to be comforted and at peace.

My nephew, Brian, was such a sweet gentle soul with a gigantic heart. I always looked forward to seeing him and he always made me feel that he was happy to see me. I see his picture and I still can’t believe I won’t ever get to see him again or hear his stories. Especially the ones about his dog, Joseph, whom he loved dearly. He always had plenty of new pictures to show of him. He had named him in memory of his dad, Joe. It is a comfort knowing that he is with his dad now in a wonderful peaceful place. He also loved his mother dearly and often came to her for advice and would buy her little things whenever he came across something he thought she would like. She will miss him more than words can say. Who am I going to make my 7 layer lettuce salad for now?  I will miss him very much. 💔

About 35 years ago, we became friends with Joe and Terri.  It was around that time that we met nine-year-old Brian.  For many years, we were all very close and we watched Brian grow from a child into a man.  In recent years, we had somewhat lost touch with Terri and Brian, but they've continued to hold a special place in our hearts.  We are deeply saddened by Brian's passing and our hearts break for Terri at this very difficult time.  We'd like to extend our warmest thoughts and prayers to Terri and to everyone else who is affected by this tragic loss.

Dear Aunt Terri,
I have started to write and share a memory a few different times. Only to delete my words. It's because I still have no words to explain or describe the way I feel. I want to say so many things. I want to express my deepest sympathies to you and Stacy. As a mother, I can not imagine what you must be going through. I have so many memories of Brian, I don't know where to begin. So, here it goes. I will always remember Brian's laugh because he laughed with gusto. I remember going to see Ghost Busters with him, my brother and sister at the Orange Park Mall and all I could hear was Brian's laugh.  So cute!  His smile was beautiful, genuine, and contagious. If I ever felt unhappy, for whatever reason, he would always try to cheer me up with a joke or a funny story. I think he got that trait from his dad, Uncle Joe.  We all know how much Brian loved art. He would get so excited talking about Salvador Dali and the Dali Museum. He also loved old houses and was so excited when he moved into his home. I remember him telling me,  my sister, Jenny, and cousin, Jordan all about his house when we went to visit for the first time. He was proud of his old home.  And  Stacy, he absolutely loved Stacy! Oh my. You would think she walked on water judging by the way Brian spoke of her. Well, that's brotherly love. And he was so excited when Jules came along. His eyes lit up talking about her. I could go on and on. He had a gentle spirit and a big heart.  I will never forget Brian. I know he is in heaven right now with his dad just as healthy as he can be.  I will always remember the good times because they are too good to forget.

What a beautiful tribute Terri, so many wonderful family photos and special memories. Brian was such a handsome young man, he looks so much like his Dad.  You always spoke so highly of your son, I know you were very proud of him.  I am so sorry for your loss, there are no words.  Prayers and condolences to you my friend and to your family🙏🏼 

There are no words to describe the immense and unthinkable loss we are all feeling right now. Brian grew up with parents who loved and cherished him and an extended family who loved him deeply as well. I remember the day Brian was born and the joy he brought into Terri and Joe’s lives. And the joy and love our mom felt when she got to hold him, her first grandchild for the first time.

Brian grew up surrounded by love. Love from his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends. Brian was adorable with those beautiful blue eyes and sweet smile.

I recall my sister, Brian’s mom, and Joe, his dad, taking trips to Disneyland and many other family outings, enjoying time together as a family. 

On my visits to Florida I watched Brian grow into a handsome young man who, like any teenager, enjoyed hanging out with his friends, swimming in their pool, and going to the movies. He also enjoyed spending time with his sister, Stacy. When aunts and uncles came over there was always good food, music played by his uncles Steve and Billy, and plenty of laughter.

I recall Brian's interest in computers and his first professional job traveling around the world in charge of maintaining computers for the Ladies Professional Golf Tournament. And I recall – due to his computer skills! – having everyone he knew asking him to help them with their computer!

After this I recall Brian discovering his love of art and graphic design. He had found his career passion. His other passion though, besides his family and friends, was his dog Joseph. I’m a dog lover myself and I could relate to the incredible fun and love a beloved pet can bring.

Brian was loved and not surprisingly grew into a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. Brian, you are missed and you are still loved. That will never change. And to my beautiful sister Terri I am here for you, always.

Bob and I and Brian’s Grandma Marie are heartbroken regarding our sweet nephew/grandson’s passing.  This past year he called me several times to ask about Bible scriptures and told me of his faith and the Bible studies he was participating in.  He loved visiting with his Grandma Marie and she dearly loved time spent talking to him.  I will miss seeing his posts of his huge dog Joseph who loved sleeping in the middle of his bed.   I can picture Brian's and his dad’s big beautiful smiles as they greeted each other in heaven. Terri and Stacey our thoughts  and prayers are with you always. He loved you both dearly. We love you too! 

Both Lee and I were so saddened by Brian's passing. Please know, you, Brian, and the entire family are held deeply in our thoughts. Thank you for sharing all those wonderful pictures showing the many memories of your time together.

What a handsome young man!
I didn't know Brian but I do know his mother who loves him dearly.  From what I have heard about Brian he was a warm, caring soul who loved his family deeply, especially his mother. 
43 is too young to leave this earth. He will be missed terribly.

All I can say is how sorry I am and, Terri, may you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you.

I am so very sorry for your loss.  I have so many fond memories of Brian.  He always made time to play with us in the pool when we were kids or show us his cd collection. I remember him showing me some designs he was working on for school and  how talented he was.  He always went out of his way to entertain us and had such a kind smile.  I will miss him very much. Sending you love and prayers during this difficult time. 

Terri, I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Brian. You have had to experience more loss  and grief than anyone should have to endure in one lifetime.  I can’t even begin to understand how broken your heart must be.  I will always remember his gentle soul, shy smile, and beautiful blue eyes.  When he traveled with his job years ago  he brought us back a little gift, and it was so sweet and thoughtful, which just shows what kind of person he was.  I hope in time you will find peace and comfort knowing that he is now with Joe.  My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

I can’t begin to imagine what a difficult time this is for you.  When we worked together you spoke of Brian often and with a lot of pride and love. I met and saw him at the office a couple of times. My heart goes out to you.   I still think of you often and have very fond memories of our time at Concentra.   I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Take care.

I met you when I was 11 years old. You were my best friend for many years.  I cant believe this. I will miss you forever. I can only hope that you are in a better place love. Good bye sweetheart.

We just learned within the hour on this Thursday afternoon of our beloved friend Brian’s untimely passing.  We are deeply saddened and are having great difficulty accepting this tragic news .

I am the mother of Doug Sanders, who was a friend of Brian's.   I know what it is to lose a son.  I send my sincerest sympathies to Ms. Mast and all of Brian's loved ones. 

Brian worked for us at Alphagraphics. He was a good worker, but what we liked best about Brian was his personality.  He was always the gentleman and always kind and polite, but he was so funny and kept everyone laughing. We enjoyed him so much!! We're so sorry for your loss!!

Brian, my brother Doug Sanders, and I had a lot of good times. There were so many of us that lived up and down Moody ave, or Drs Lake dr we had a great time.  I always remember Joe and his famous soup. I'm happy Brian and Joe are reunited. My condolences Mrs. Terry and Stacy during this difficult time.
