Carol lived for her 7 children and 15 grandchildren. She loved to write songs, and stories and to make up games to share with her children. She always said she loved being a mom and had so much fun playing with her kids. This joy extended to her grandchildren as they arrived. Carol was always available to listen, offer encouragement, or advice. Sunday dinner with her children and grandchildren was her favorite activity. Carol was also very active in her church. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Carol filled many leadership roles as a Relief Society President, Sunday school teacher, visiting teacher, and friend to anyone who needed a friend. She was truly the epitome of great love and selflessness.
Carol became a nurse in 1974. She had a love for learning and continued to further her education obtaining a Masters Degree in Public Health, a second Masters in Psychiatric Nursing and finally added the Family Nurse Practitioner license in her later years. Carol had a talent for teaching and over the course of her career had the opportunity to teach nursing as a Faculty at Austin Peay State University and Jacksonville University. As she followed her husband’s military career she found opportunities to use her nursing skills as a volunteer with the American Red Cross. As the Chairman of Nursing for the American Red Cross Carol traveled to Guam to provide Disaster Mental Health services after Typhoon Omar. She also directed the health and mental health services in shelters following the Tennessee Ice storms. Carol developed a training program for the military’s first primary prevention program for child abuse and neglect. She was dedicated to the nursing field and the patients she served.
Carol is survived by her husband; Barry Grieve, children: Aaron Grieve, Jaime Haynes, Brigham Grieve, Elizabeth Tatum, Matthew Grieve, Nicole Grieve, and Keilani Sotelo, grandchildren: Isa Grieve 21, Amelia Grieve 17, Ellie Grieve 14, Isaac Grieve 12, Carlos Meza 12, Dillian Jackson 11, Kennedy Grieve 8, Lily Haynes 8, Annie Grieve 6, Matthew Grieve 6, Tyler Haynes 6, Jayden Haney 6, Elias Grieve 3, Ari Grieve 10 months.
Graveside Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Jacksonville National Cemetery 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218 and Funeral Services 2:00 PM Thursday, June 25, 2020 at HARDAGE - GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME 127 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, Florida, 32073.
