Affectionately known as Nas to his friends, Sario to his siblings and extended family, and Tatay to his children and grandchildren, Nasario was born on July 28, 1930 in Nueva Ecija, Philippines to Jovito and Guadalupe Escobar. He grew up in the small seaside farming town of Iba, Zambales. He graduated with a degree in Accounting from Far Eastern University and quickly earned his CPA. He met the love of his life, Patrocinio Damasco, while they were both working at the National Orthopedic Hospital in Manila. They wed in June 1956, raised six children, and were married for 47 years until she passed away in 2003.
Nasario spent most of his career working for 3M Philippines, starting in the 1960s as a salesman and eventually rising to the position of Vice President of Finance. He moved with his family to St. Paul, MN to take a position in International Finance at 3M Corporate Headquarters in 1984 and retired in 1993.
Nasario had a zest for life. He loved cooking, enjoying sports like golf, tennis, squash, cycling, marathons, and rowing, traveling, spending time with family across the country, and helping others. He was also a voracious reader and had an astounding memory. He enjoyed an active lifestyle, following a workout routine at the YMCA, where he participated in bootcamp workout classes three days a week at 87 years old. He fully enjoyed the simple things in life, but most of all, he loved the company of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and love of family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patrocinio, parents, and two brothers, Cipriano and Arsenio Escobar. He is survived by his daughters Patricia (Paul) Acedera, Christina (Robert) Formichelli, Alessandra (Juan) Angeles, and Rosario (Marc-Olivier) Boissé; sons Enrique (Elizabeth Starling) Escobar and Petrus Escobar; grandchildren Lisa (Kyle) Odenwelder, Annamaria and Joseph Formichelli, Andrew Angeles, Emma Escobar, Nina and Inès Boissé; and great-grandchildren, Alexander and Charlotte Odenwelder. He is also survived by sisters Teresita Capili, Corazon Nelle, Yolanda Escobar, and Evelyn Javier; brothers Roberto, Aristeo, Jovito Jr., and Virgilio Escobar; and step-granddaughter Abigail (Martin) Valtierra and their children, Cooper and Lily.
Visitation will be at 5 pm for family and 6-8 pm for friends on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32073.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 am Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5752 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32244.
Burial will be a private ceremony at Calvary Cemetery in St. Paul, MN, where he will finally reunite with Patrocinio.
