

Ruth M. Camelia, longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida, passed into eternal glory, on Friday, September 2nd in Orange Park, Florida. Ruth was born in Everett, Massachusetts on February 10th, 1920 to Walter and Florence (Blanchard) Caverly.
Ruth was married to Louis D. Camelia and had many wonderful years lovingly devoted to her husband and family, in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The loss of her husband Louis, in 1974, eventually brought her to Jacksonville, Florida
Ruth was a great friend, always caring, helpful, cheerful, and good. Enjoyed traveling, sewing, embroidery, had pen pals she kept in touch with for many years. Ruth studied Spanish in recent years, and was always a part of her family’s life, while maintaining her independence. Ruth was loved by her many friends and her family and will be missed.
Ruth’s only surviving sibling is older sister Marjorie O. Ashcroft, 100 yrs. young. Ruth is survived by step daughter, Shirley A. Buchanan, son, Michael L. Camelia and wife Patricia, and daughter, Susan R. Lee. She will be lovingly remembered by step grandchildren, Patricia Garber and husband Jon, Diane Dodd, John Buchanan, and Beth Buchanan; her grandchildren Berin Camelia, Justin and wife Liz Camelia, Leanne Camelia, Elise and husband Derek Hurley, and Genna Camelia; and her grandchildren David and wife Sarah Lee, Amy C. Lee, and Kevin Lee. Nieces Eleanor Nenart, Dorothy Castellucci, Linda Mangold, Marian Schofield, nephews, Edwin, Robert, and Peter Anderson are among family that called her Aunt Ruthie. She has a number of great grandchildren with the youngest born last month and step great-great-grand’s.
Ruth was predeceased by her brothers, Howard Anderson, Robert Calvary and sisters, Dorothy Caulk, Yvonne Caverly; Sisters-in-law Eleanor Anderson, Mary Caverly, Brothers-in-law Arthur Ashcroft, Raymond Caulk, Step son-in-law Norman Buchanan, former son-in-law Charles A. Lee; Nephews Robert Ashcroft, David Caulk, John Caulk, Nieces Barbara Forney and Marjorie Atwood.
Thank you to all that were a part of the wonderful life she lived and for the care and attention given in her recent illness.
Memorial Service will be held at, Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd Orange Park, FL 32073 on September 16th at 3 PM.
She will be laid to rest at Beechbrook Cemetery in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
