Ruth Ella Van Name nee: Vanderford 91 passed away the 26th of May 2018. Born in 1926 on the island of Oahu, she was the last survivor of ten Vanderford children. Although she resided in New York, Oregon and Florida she always considered Hawaii her home. There she met US Marine PFC Robert Van Name, they later married and together they raised five children; Robert E. (Louella), Cheryl L. Smith (Duke), William B. Van Name (Theresa), Donna M. Lagoda (Robert) and Dale J. She loved bingo, football, cards, wine and chocolate not in any particular order and making fancy birthday cakes as a hobby. After raising her children she attended Westchester CC and became a dietary tech followed by a job at Nyack Manor Nursing Home, where many a night she came home to bake something special for her favorite patients. Leaving 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a large extended family that she enjoyed “talking stories” with. There will be no visitation, she will rest beside her husband at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Oregon. Aloha Oe.
