Steven Neal Parker, age 81, was reunited with the love of his life, Sandi Parker, on April 25,2024 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. After his diagnosis Steve’s desire was to see his great grandson Julian be born. Steve received his wish and was able to spend the first eighteen months of Julians life together.
Steve was born in Abingdon,Virginia to the late Lacy and Ima (Gladys) Parker. After graduation from high school Steve and Sandi were married (55 years) and he enlisted into the United States Navy where he proudly served his country for 22 years. During his time in the service Steve spent time in Cuba, Iceland, Spain, Greece and upon his retirement was stationed at Jacksonville naval air station. After his military retirement Steve worked for Logistic Service International (LSI). Steve was very proud of his time in the military and loved his country dearly.
Steve never met a stranger and always enjoyed good conversation about politics, food, sports or his days growing up in Southwest Virginia. Steve was passionate about his sports teams, especially the Florida Gators. Often times Steve would be seen sporting his Gator shirts when he was out and about. Steve was also a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves, Jacksonville Jaguars and NASCAR.
Steve seemingly always has a knack for winning; over the years some of his prizes included an in ground swimming pool, season tickets to the Jacksonville Jaguar’s and a moped among other things.
Steve loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and he and Sandi faithfully attended United Methodist Church of Orange Park until their health prevented them from attending.
In addition to his wife and parents Steve was also preceded in death by his grandson, Zachary Lane, his special cousin Vance Greer, brother in laws Bill Barker and Jack Barker and Sister in laws Janet Ragan and Judy Barker.
Left to cherish Steve’s memory are his two loving daughters, Lynette Taliaferro and husband Randy and Anne Lambrecht and husband Dean. Steve is also survived by five grandchildren, Gabrielle (Kim) Ramos, Reese ( Alyssa) Lane, Griffith (Caroline) Lane, Lacy Lambrecht, Antonio Ames; and 4 great grandchildren: Julian Lane., Clay Knowles, Emma Knowles and Drew Knowles. Steve is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, May 29th, 2024 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL with visitation held 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home. Steve will be laid to rest with his wife, Sandi at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL with full military honors.
