Thomas B Paine

Thomas “Tom” Paine, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on August 19, 2025, at the age of 82. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bailey Paine and Monica (Bernie) Heinis.

Born on January 29, 1943, Tom grew up in Cicero, Illinois, with a brief chapter of his early years spent on a farm in Missouri. Following in his father’s footsteps, Tom’s first job was at Taylor Forge factory. Tom owned a neighborhood bar (M.T. Glass) and an auto machine shop (Tom’s Head Service), places where he built friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Tom loved spending time with family and sharing stories. He also loved fishing, the racetrack, a good game of pool, and time with friends at Junior’s.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah; his children, Tommy Paine, Todd (Elena) Paine, Kristin (David) Cotal, Erica (Aundrea Wilson) Tomei, Erin Tomei, and Richard (Ashley) Tomei. Cherished grandfather of the late Little T, Todd Jr, Michael, Corissa, Nathan, Emily, Lucas, Braydon, Guiliana, and Giovanni, and great-grandfather of Adelynn.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Orland Funeral Home, 9900 W 143rd Street, Orland Park, IL. On Monday, August 25, a morning gathering will take place at 10:00am followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00am, both at Orland Funeral Home.
