
Bruce Stafford Fanning was born on September 28, 1948, in Columbia, SC. He was the son of LeRoy Fanning Jr and Margaret Hellon Brown Fanning. He passed away in his home in Orlando on June 9, 2024.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Arnold; sons Bruce Stafford Montondo, Brian Wreden Fanning and wife Kim, Jonathan Grant Fanning and wife Julie; brother, LeRoy Fanning III and wife Floy; sister, Patricia Gail Buckner and husband John. He is also survived by two stepsons, Jesse Edwards and Buzz Edwards his sister-in-law, Lolly Murphy and husband Mike.
Grandchildren Stafford Montondo, Brey Montondo, Jonathan Fanning, Randall Fanning and two step-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He retired from BellSouth/AT&T in Columbia after 40 years of service.
Bruce had many talents and hobbies. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and snow skiing. He also enjoyed pickleball and painting. He created many paintings which he shared with family, friends, and church. He enjoyed watching University of South Carolina Gamecocks sports and kept up with the teams until the day he died.
Bruce never met a stranger because he had an innate ability to make everyone feel special.
Bruce loved the Lord and reading his Bible. In the face of adversity, he was consistently positive and looked forward to the future. His comments were hopeful and inspiring to his family and friends.
A small memorial service will be held for friends and family at a later date.
