

George Russell Coleman, 81, of Orlando, FL, passed away on Friday evening, June 21, 2013, at Hospice of the Comforter, surrounded by his family. Born September 1, 1931, in Lothair, Kentucky, son of the late Samuel Coleman and Mary (Hall) Coleman. George spent 20 years in the military, serving 9 years in the Marines and 11 years in the Army. He participated in both Korea and Vietnam conflicts and was stationed multiple times in Germany, where he met his wife Ingrid (Schmid) Coleman. After retiring from the Army in 1969, he worked for several different companies before retiring again. George was a member of the Shriners and Masons for 32 years and was a past president of the Bahia Shrine Camel Herders. He and his wife were also members of the German American Society of Central FL. George’s spare time consisted of traveling and enjoyed reading whenever possible. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ingrid Coleman; along with his two sons Michael (Kristin) of Jacksonville, FL., and Donald (Mizell) of Brandon, FL., five grandchildren Amanda, Joshua, Devin, Braeden and Kellen, and his sister Sandra Robertson (Fred), and his loving nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Carey Hand Colonial Chapel, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL, on Sunday, July 7, 2013, from 1:30 pm until time of memorial service at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Shan Wood officiating. Following services, a reception will be held at First Christian Church, 2565 E. Kaley St., Orlando.
