

Glady came to Westminster Towers in Orlando, FL in 2007.She was born in 1914 to a farming family in Fowler, IN.Gladys was always interested in attending to the needs of others. Her dedication and participation in a local 4-H program enabled her to become a program leader in her community. Upon completing high school, Gladys went to a business college and became a secretary at a meat plant. She then decided to return to school to attend Purdue University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in dietary studies, which led to her lifetime career as a registered dietician.
Gladys interned at a Chicago Hospital where she became committed to helping the homeless.
As a dietician, Gladys served in many different capacities at several hospitals; from manager to a clinician and an administrator. She spent the greater part of her career(22 years) working at Orlando Regional Medical Center. After she retired, she joined a group of other retired dieticians and was selected to tour Russia(USSR) to learn about dietary practices there.
Gladys has been a member of the Greater Orlando Chapter of the United Nations of America-USA for over twenty-five(25) years, where she has held Board positions from President to Membership Chair. Gladys was head of the Scholarship Committe for the Woman's Residential and Counseling Center until 2007, when she gave up the position due to some hearing loss, but remains a Member at Large on the Board.
Gladys was a weekly driver for Meals-on-Wheels for twenty-nine(29) years and retired on her 93rd birthday.
Gladys was a member of the League of Women's Voters, United Methodist Women, American Dietetic Association, American Association of University Women and many others.
Gladys' life is a shining example of her advice to "stay involved" and her goal to help people "stay connected".
Her final resting place will be at Fowler Cemetery and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
