She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 28, 1922, the first of her Yugoslavian family to be born in America The second oldest of six children, Helen went to work at an early age to help support her family after the early passing of her father. She has always had a strong spirit, working hard and loving fiercely -- she fell in love with the man who ran the restaurant where she worked and they married and started a family!
After he passed, she had the joy of falling in love again, and married Otway Burns.
Everyone who has ever known Helen delighted in her -- she was feisty, full of life, funny and kind.
She loved her family deeply, and treated friends like family too. Helen always dressed to the nines, and her friends affectionately called her a diva! She loved to travel, party, and play bingo, cards and dominoes. And, she maintained that rare balance between kindness and directness, with her humor as the secret ingredient.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Linda Hucks; granddaughters, Melissa Booth and Tammy Hucks; grandson, William Hucks and wife Nancy Hucks; great granddaughters, Amber Williams and husband Steven Williams, Chelsea Troisi, Abigail Hucks and husband Michael Niblick; great grandson, Joshua Booth; and great-great granddaughters, Maddy Niblick, Miya Niblick, Aubrey Williams, Aubrey Niblick and Emma Williams.
