

Icylyn S Holness Adamson passed peacefully on June 22,2025. She was born September 14 1924 in Saint Elizabeth Jamaica to Beatrice and Isaac Simeon Holness. She moved to the United States in 1949 where she became a U S Citizen. After a brief stay in Florida, she settled in New York City where she worked for the Bulova Watch Company, the U.S. Postal Service and finally, 21 years with the Treasury Department until her retirement.She married Edward Adamson June 30 1956. They were married for 67 years, residing in Queens, N.Y. for 14 years before moving to Spring Valley, N.Y. Upon retirement she returned to Orlando, Florida where she enjoyed swimming, tennis, sewing, dancing, reading and crafting as well as the many local attractions. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Adamson who passed away on April 2,2023. Icylyn is survived by son Godfrey Melville, Sharon Lafayette who she refers to as her daughter, her sister, Dr. Mavis Petersen Gilmore, and Ena Salmon. Niece,nephews and a host other relatives Love ones and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Dr. Ronald Holness and sister Valrie Holness. May the light that Icylyn lit in the hearts of all those she encountered burn for many generations as she rest in eternal peace. A visitation for Icylyn will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Family Funeral Care, 13001 South John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32837. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 13001 South John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32837. A committal service will occur Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL 32754.
