
Orlando— James Theron “TJ” Edge, 77, passed away June 10th 2017 after battling lung and brain cancer. He leaves his long-time friend and wife Mary (Santana) Edge; his son, Rodney Edge and his companion Millie; his step-daughters Mercedes Woodall and her husband Kevin, Frances Novo, and Leanne Longsworth and her husband Lionel; his siblings Denham Edge, Larry Edge and his wife Linda, Jerry Edge and his wife Judy, Juanita Edge Frazier, and Bobby Edge; his grandchildren Joshua Edge and his wife Aimee, Devon Edge, Sierra Edge, Cameron Edge, Allison Novo-Calderon and her husband Manuel, Tyler Novo, Kameron Woodall, Alexis Santana, Madison Novo, Vanessa Longsworth, and Khloe Longsworth; his great-grandchildren Eien Gomes, Zaiden Edge-Gomes, Ava David; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; Donnie Edge, Ralph Campbell, Mark Campbell, David Maddox, Bernie Davis, Jay Edge; and many friends. Born in Cordell, Georgia, to Maude and Garland Theron “Buster” Edge; then moved to Orlando in his early childhood years. As a young child he would help sell eggs for the family business. After graduating from William R. Boone High School, he served in the Army in Germany, after returning he attended and graduated from Rollins College with a Bachelor’s degree in the Arts. A businessman throughout his adult-life, he found his calling 17 years ago by helping Orlando’s children and families and started The Servant’s Heart Center. His dedication and kind-spirit assisted in feeding numerous children and families throughout Central Florida. TJ has touched the lives of so many. He never let his illness stop his unwavering commitment to serve others; waking at 4:30 am every morning to ensure baked goods were delivered to needy families. An active member of the First Baptist Church of Orlando, he would always have his bible handy. An avid collector of toy cars and eggs, he also enjoyed rebuilding cars. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and colleagues, but we know his legacy will live on through those whom he impacted with his caring heart. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to: The American Cancer Society c/o Divas for a Cure Pembroke Pines. He was a part of this special team made up of young children and his grand-daughters. There will be a donation box set-up at his Celebration of Life. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 24th 2017 at 11:00 am at: The First Baptist Church of Orlando 3000 S. John Young Parkway Orlando, Florida 32805 in the Jim Henry Chapel (South side of church).
