

James Preston Goff, 74, of Howey-in-the-Hills, passed away Wednesday, March 29th at Florida Living Nursing Center in Apopka, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. A native of Springfield, OH he was raised in Indianapolis, IN. He went in the United States Army at the age of 18 and served for 6 years before being Honorably Discharged at age 24 and he then settled in Orlando, FL. He later reenlisted in the Army Reserves and served a total of 34 years before retiring with the rank of Sergeant Major, an E9, the highest rank attainable in the Reserves. He worked many years as a mechanic and as a long distance truck driver for Frito Lay. His passion was building and rebuilding street rods. He was a founding member of the Early Irons Street Rod Club. He is survived by his wife, Ellen, of Casselberry, daughter Michelle and her husband David, and granddaughter Sarah all of Saint George, UT. Visitation will be Thursday, April 6 from 10-11am at All Faiths Funeral Home, 4901 S. Orange Ave. Orlando, Florida 32806. Service to follow at 11:00 am. Graveside service at 2:00 pm at Cape Canaveral Veterans Cemetery in Mims, Florida with Honor Guard Ceremony. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Vitas Hospice or Disabled Veterans.
