It is with deepest sorrow to announce the passing of beloved husband, father and papa, James Michael Wood, 61, of Orlando, Florida on September 30, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Terrie (Catherine) Wood, daughter Monica and husband Jason and sweet grandchildren Flynn and Willow, son Chris and wife Hillary. Jim was one of five children born to John and Margaret Wood: Jack (Teresa), Kath (Ed), Bob (Liz) and Tricia.
Jim was born on May 21, 1958 in Westerly, Rhode Island and raised in Connecticut before moving to Orlando in 1993. He loved being at sea and was an avid traveler having taken dozens of cruises over the past four decades with his wife and family. He was most recently employed by Starbucks where his co-workers remember him for his kindness, humor, humbleness and classic catchphrases.
Jim’s family remembers him as always putting them first. Jim was full of experience and life lessons, always advising us to stay flexible, above all else. He was intelligent, witty and insightful. As a true source of guidance and strength, Jim always made time to listen and offer sound advice with warmth and candor. Even though he’s left us his words will always echo in our hearts. He loved being Papa to his grandchildren and spent every Saturday with breakfast together and Hay Day Farming with Flynn.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Friday, October 4, at Casa Feliz Historic House Museum, 656 N Park Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789, starting at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html) and Second Harvest Foodbank of Orlando (https://www.feedhopenow.org/site/Donation2?df_id=2660&2660.donation=form1).
