May 14, 1954 – February 15, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Clausel “Yvon” René, lovingly known as Clausel by his family and friends. He peacefully passed away on February 15, 2025, at the age of 70, in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by his family, love, and prayer.
Born on May 14, 1954, in Cayes, Haiti, to Samuel René and Locita Joseph, Clausel moved to the United States in 1994 with his family. They initially settled in Idaho before making Orlando their home in 1997. A skilled and dedicated electrician, Clausel honed his craft in Haiti and continued to thrive as a Master Electrician in the U.S. He was widely respected for his technical expertise, but it was his generosity in mentoring others and sharing his knowledge that truly set him apart. Clausel’s calming presence, warm smile, and selfless nature made everyone around him feel like family. He had the rare gift of making each person feel valued and loved.
Clausel is survived by his wife, Marie Luzette René, his mother, Locita Joseph, his brothers: Joseph “Enel” (Germanie) René Previlma, Jean Luckner René, Jean Elson René, Jean Junior (Natacha) René, Djemes René, St. Juste René, Moise René, Pierre Paul René, Pierre Jules René, and Eval René; his sisters: Rose Marie “Dieunane” (Françisse) Jean Francois, Marie Mica René, Roselene René, Velise René, Juslene René, Missaderne René, and Kethy Delva; as well as his children: Sister Christiana Marie René SMMC, WeenShella (Jean) Casilus, Pierre (Joanna) René, and Weetsel (Skermine) René. He was also a proud grandfather to Elijah René, Eva René, Julien Casilus, WeelaBelle Casilus, Sayuri René, and Josaiah Casilus.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel René, his brother, Jean Varnel René, and his beloved granddaughter, Sasha René.
A man of profound faith, Clausel’s love for music—especially the hymns of the Mass—was a central part of his life. Music was his way of connecting with others and uplifting his own spirit, he could often be found holding a guitar or sitting at the piano. He found great joy in sharing the gift of music with those around him, always using it as a means to bring people together and offer comfort.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Orlando, Florida, at 801 N Hastings on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with a viewing beginning at 9:00 AM.
The family is grateful for all the support and love they’ve received during this time and kindly asks for your prayers as they celebrate Clausel’s life and the love he shared with all of us.
