

Jim was born on May 12, 1949 to the late Robert Etherington and Mary "Sally" (McMichael) Siarto in Pittsburgh, PA. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Etherington; his children, James Matthew Etherington with Tina Cooley, and Stacey (Andrew) Noble; along with his siblings, Bob (Nancy) Etherington, Joanne Martin with Dick Morgan, Carol (the late Evan) Mcbroom and Billy (Pam) Etherington; and his sister in laws, Dorrie (the late Bill "Corky") Gardell and Donna Gardell. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Mia and Gavin; as well as beloved nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.
Jim graduated from St. Anselm's Highschool in 1967. In 1968, Jim met his wife, Judy, in their hometown of Swissvale, PA. He starting working for the Union Railroad when he was 18, working his way up to the Senior Manager of Operations. He retired early after dedicating 37 years to the railroad.
After retirement, Jim and his wife Judy moved to Orlando, FL in 2007. Jim started working as a part-time Disney Cast Member at the ESPN Wide World Of Sports. He retired from Disney after 11 years in 2018. During his time at Disney in 2012, Jim had the opportunity to play in the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic, Miracle Maker's Club Pro - Am, where he played alongside pro golfers, with his best friend, Paul Smith, as his Caddy. This was one of his biggest accomplishments. Working at Disney, he got to meet many celebrities including Shaq, Michelle Obama and Prince Harry. He made many friends there, especially his good friends, Paul Martel and Bill Helriggle.
He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing golf with his wife and best friends. He traveled and golfed all over the U.S. playing beautiful golf courses, including Pebble Beach and Payne Valley Big Cedar Lodge. For over 30 years, he joined his golf buddies at their annual Magpie which was always held in June in Ohio.
Jim will be remembered for his quirky one-liners and for genuinely just living his best life. He loved golf and spending time with his family and friends most.
