John Parisi, 69, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on December 8, 2024, at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital. Born in Port Richmond, Staten Island, New York, on December 5, 1955, he was the beloved husband of Andrea Parisi (Torcivia) for 41 years. John was a devoted father to Matthew James Parisi and Sean Michael Parisi. He was predeceased by his parents, John Paul Parisi and Evelyn Marion Parisi (Schoenfelder).
He is survived by his wife, Andrea; his sons, Matthew and Sean; his sister, Jane Harvey, and her husband, Paul; his brother, George, and his wife, Wanda; his sister, Susan Taormina, and her husband, Anthony; his goddaughter, Michele Haley, who was like a daughter to him, and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
John attended Port Richmond High School and the College of Staten Island. A skilled craftsman, he excelled as a master carpet installer, renowned for his meticulous attention to detail. This dedication extended to his many hobbies, including painting pewter miniatures, crafting intricate miniature houses and shadow boxes, and creating soft puppets, ventriloquist figures, and marionettes. He served as president of the Florida Ventriloquist Association for several years.
A lifelong collector, John amassed a vast collection of DC Comics, with Superman as his favorite superhero. He cherished toys, collectibles, and action figures, and delighted in antiquing with his wife, Andrea, searching for treasures related to his favorite characters and television shows, including Superman, Popeye, Howdy Doody, Star Trek, westerns, Dr. Who, and anything involving time travel.
John will be remembered for his many witty sayings, two of which perfectly capture his personality: "The one with the most toys wins," and "I may not always be right, but I am never wrong."
A private celebration of life will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to organizations that support children and encourage the arts and crafts in younger generations, or to consider volunteering to mentor or work with children or adults to keep the art of creating figures and the art of puppetry and ventriloquism alive and well into the future.
