Marie Elizabeth Suchel

Marie Elizabeth Suchel, age 87, passed away on May 16, 2025. She was born in Chicago, IL on May 20, 1937, to her father Leslie and mother Marie Williamson. Marie was a proud graduate of St. Francis de Paula Catholic School and Aquinas Dominican High School. She was formerly married to the late William Suchel. Together, they remained devoted to their children and grandchildren, maintaining a respectful relationship over the years.

Marie worked at Claire Manufacturing as an Administrative Assistant for 20 years before she moved to Orlando, FL. Once in Orlando, she worked Merchandising at Disney World before retiring after 16 years.

Throughout her time in Orlando, Marie was a devoted member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where she was an avid singer in the church choir. In her later years, she became a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where she joined the Women’s Council. Religion anchored her life, and she instilled in her family the Catholic values and traditions that formed their faith in Christ.

Marie was known for her caring and nurturing spirit and strong will to provide. She was a loving Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Though Florida became her home, Chicago always held a special place in her heart, and she treasured every opportunity to return and visit. She had a deep passion for all things Walt Disney, Hallmark movies, traveling, and above all, her family and friends. She lived by the philosophy, 'Once a friend, always a friend,' nurturing lifelong bonds and remaining loyal to those she cared about, no matter the passing of time. She also cherished a good glass of dry red wine.

Marie was preceded in death by her daughter Laura Marie Suchel, siblings, Garry Williamson, Robert Williamson, and Jim Williamson. She is survived by her sisters-in-law June, Helen, and Joyce Williamson.

She is survived by her loving children, Barbara (Jonathan) Bodle, William Suchel; her grandchildren, Michael Modica, Ashley (Christian) Reyes, Kirsten Bodle; her great grandchildren, Caleb Modica and Sophia Modica, and her siblings, Barbara (the late Thomas) McKeown and Michael (Jayne) Williamson.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Family Funeral Care, 13001 S John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL, 32837.
