Peggy Boone Smith

Peggy B. Smith, 95, of Grass Valley, CA (formerly Orlando, FL), passed away on February 18, 2026. She was born in Picayune, Mississippi on March 28, 1930. Peggy graduated from Picayune High School and received a General Business Diploma from Spencer Business College, New Orleans, LA.

She was married to James (Jim) D. Smith on July 22, 1952 in New Orleans, having met on a blind date while Jim was stationed in the Navy. Peggy had a career in school administration for Orange County Public Schools, spending 23 years at Westridge Middle School. She was a member of First Baptist Church Pinecastle, and had a passion for her church, singing in the choir, gardening, reading, and her family.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jim, brothers Duane and James Boone, and parents Elisha and Verna Boone. She is survived by her son Kevin (and Terri) Smith of Chocowinity, NC and daughter Kim (and Ron) Thompson of Grass Valley, CA; grandchildren Dr. Lindsay Neutzling, Colin Smith, Ryan Thompson, Jordyn Thompson; and three great grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM for visitation and 3:00 PM for the memorial service on March 11, 2026, at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 1413 S. Semoran Blvd, Orlando, Florida.
