Born April 15, 1955 at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando, Randy was a lifelong resident of Conway. He began his career with Orange County Public Schools at the age of 18 as a custodian, ultimately earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Central Florida. Randy went on to serve OCPS as a U.S. Government teacher at Boone High School, and then as assistant principal at Winter Park High School before retiring after 33 years.
Randy had a deep passion for politics and civic engagement, regularly publishing letters to the editor in the Orlando Sentinel to share his thoughtful, strongly held beliefs. He also had a love for all things UCF and proudly supported his Knights. He found peace near the water and cherished time at the ocean, Memorial weekends in Daytona Beach, scalloping Crystal River, snorkeling reefs in the Keys, or relaxing by his pool.
The eldest of five siblings, Randy is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters Jennifer Armstrong (Brandon Hanshaw), and Stephanie (Chase) Allen; and grandchildren Zachary, Colton, Jack, and Payton. Above all, Randy will be remembered for his integrity, work ethic, and the life lessons he shared, especially with his grandchildren, to whom he taught the value of hard work and always doing your best.
A celebration of life will be held at Conway Community Church, Friday, June 13 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Heart Association.
