Rema Rebecca Rouse was born on December 7, 1944, in Kingston Jamaica. She was a naturally beautiful and talented girl with very high ambitions. At the age of 17, Rema graduated from Holy Trinity Secondary after which she attended Trade School to become a seamstress. Immediately after graduation, like true entrepreneurs Rema and her best friend Rose Barkley became the proprietors of a dress making business. Later in the mid 1960's, in pursuit of greater success for her family Rema migrated to the United States. She held several jobs and pursued small business ventures, but she had a special love for the clothing design industry. Ream’s creativity and tasteful style were her signature trademarks. This love for designing propelled her to enroll at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Here Rema gained advanced knowledge and skills, which elevated her exceptional talent to a higher level allowing Rema to successfully engage her skills in her beloved profession in the New York fashion industry for over forty years.
Rema exuded beauty, elegance, poise and style that whenever Rema walked into a room heads would turn. In 1966 as fate would have it, Rema ran into her childhood friend Winston Dixon. They discovered that they were the perfect match in style, and destined soulmate in love. Winston was determined to not let Rema out of his sight again. Their passion was irresistible, their heart connection unbreakable culminating into marriage in 1968. The couple raised their family in New Jersey. Rema, the devoted wife, mother, and daughter created a beautiful home for her sons Troy and Winston Jr and her beloved mother Ms. Myrtle.
After retirement in 2010, Rema and her family relocated to Orlando, Florida where Rema and Winston once again curated a beautiful home, generously hosting family and friends at every chance possible. Rema found fellowship at Door of Light Church of God. She believed in service to her family, community and humanity.
