Ronald was born in Mountain City, Tennessee and has a family history of being related to both the Hatfields and McCoys. Ron was an avid reader and loved history. He shared his love for history with his students during his 30 year career as an 8th grade American History teacher.
One of the many exciting hobbies Ron had was to participate as a civilian in Civil War reenactments across Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia and Maryland. He was a member of the 2nd Florida Volunteers Company E and deemed their godfather.
He was honored with member emeritus for his many hours of volunteering as a range safety officer at the Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club. He was also a proud Son of the Confederacy and a member of the Jacob Summerlin Camp 1516.
Ron was the son of a Christian preacher and a member of Union Park Christian Church. He is survived by his wife Kathy of 47 years; sisters, Jeanette (David) Bell of Georgia; Eileen (Larry) Gordon in Iowa and his brother Everett (Mary) Mounts in Virginia.
Ron’s earthly body will be laid to rest in the Chapel Hill Cemetery. No service will be held.
