Anita C. Rogers, also known as Harve, Auntie ‘Nita, Grammy, made this world and so many lives better in countless ways. Her strength, thoughtfulness, care, dedication, intelligence, and curiosity were just some of the attributes that guided her through a wonderful life and that she directed toward those around her.
She always had an amazing sense of adventure, and traveled expansively throughout the United States and other countries with friends and family. From road trips to sailing adventures to indoor skydiving, she was always ready for new experiences.
Anita had a special and rather rare bond with her family. She and her siblings remained close with regular group chats and visits. She always went out of her way to attend the milestones of her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She held close connections with her family and her husband Ernie’s family, and treated everyone as part of her own inner circle.
She was lucky to have found the love of her life in her husband Ernie Rogers, and the life they built together was truly an inspiration to all those around them. The support and care they always showed each other shone through both joyful and difficult times. They raised beloved dogs and cats together, hosted family events, traveled expansively, and experienced life to the fullest in each other’s company.
Though seemingly quiet and reserved, her social life expanded far and wide. She had friends from high school, college, the neighborhood, her church, volunteering at a nursing home, her political and activism groups, her bridge and mahjong partners, a widow’s support group, “Sal’s Gals” and other people and groups that she met and helped form along the way. Not only was she well known and a wonderful friend, she made so much effort to keep in touch with everyone through cards, letters, phone calls, and even video calls.
Through her education, social work, her political activism, her generous volunteering, and her overall dedication to improving people’s lives, she touched so many people and showed us a path of love, empathy, and fulfillment through her actions. Some of her many accomplishments include graduating Summa Cum Laude from Lake Forest College, receiving her Master’s Degree in Social Work in her 60’s,
Anita will be unimaginably missed by her brothers Dan, Dave, and Richard (her twin), her sisters-in-law Sue, Bobbie, and Julie, Ernie’s daughters Kim and Jena, her son-in-law John, her nieces Diana and Andrea, her nephews, James, David and Carlos, her grandchildren Emma, Rebecca, Rachel, Benjamin, Daniel, Kaisei and Raina, her cousins and their families, her many friends and loved ones, and countless others. She is being reunited with her husband Ernie, her parents June and Eliecer, her precious dog Abby and a lifetime of pets, and other dearly missed friends and family.
We thank Anita for the amazing memories and profound moments. She will never leave our minds and our hearts, and we hope to be able to follow in her impactful footprints.
Anita's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 2pm at the Federated Church of Orleans, 162 Main Street, Orleans MA. Reception to follow.
