Nice guy with a great sense of humor ! Loved working for him  as a gymnastic instructor at the camp in the mid sixties .

Arthur E. Farnham:  A  positive and exceptional  leader with great personal skills, and a very camper caring individual  when he was Director and Partner of Camp Namequoit for those many years.   Art and also Jerrie were truly unmatched in understanding how to lead, and successfully operate an overnight  summer camp for 160 campers with over 35 staff for 7.5 weeks.  AEF. as" The Chief", will be remembered by many staff and campers as simply the very best.  My sincerest  condolences especially to Jerrie, and to the extended family.  Peter B.

Friends on the Cape and at MIT will not be surprised to learn that during his Springfield College years Art was always known as Pappy.  Maturity and  
gentle kindness will mark a good person every time. I can only regret that years and distance drew us apart. Thanks for being a real leader back when you were Pappy and I could just be the kid.

I have so many fond memories of Camp Namequoit and Art's role as Director there, but the most indelible memory is of him, dressed in a full length set of rain gear, coming out of the inky dark waterfront of Namequoit River, carrying a flaming torch as the "old man of the sea," to lead us campers (the whole camp assembled on the beach), to call for ODIN, the Norse wind god, to come and bless our sailors in the next day's PBIR (Pleasant Bay Intercamp Regatta) sailing races.  What a force he was in our, and so many others', young lives!  We will miss him! Greg Schwartz, Namequoit '77-'86.

To Jerri, to the Thayers, and to all my fellow campers, I am deeply saddened by Art's departure. I am also joyful of the life he led and he example he set. While we all must leave this earth at some point, I am comforted in knowing that he lived such a good life. He was more than just an example to us all. He was a mentor. He showed us right from wrong (which we eventually learned ;-), and his example is one we have passed to our children. Art, you were the best. Thank you.

What can I say that is an adequate tribute to Art? He wad a wonderful man and such a great mentor for so any boys at Namequoit.  Brooks and I treasured his  friendship and that of Jerrie who were godparents to one of our sons. I think he lived life with love in his heart and  and care for all.        Louise Thayer

I got this news from my friend who was a counselor at Namequoit while I was there in the early 1980's. I remember Art well, he was a friendly face, patient and helpful with the campers, the man behind Namequoit, which was a beloved institution and the source of many of my best childhood memories. I'm so grateful to Art, he was a great man and if there is a heaven I hope that he is there enjoying all that he loves.

My deepest sympathies to you Jerry. Art was a wonderful man, who taught so many of us so much about being a man.  He was in many ways a second father to me.

Mr. Farnham I cannot thank you enough for giving me an initiation into being an independent young man. You were always caring and encouraging.  It was easy to see that you loved teaching, and guiding us into being decent human beings.  They rarely make them like you anymore.  Thanks for the start.  Jamie Warburton
