Diane Thacher Leonard

Born to Frances Priscilla Thacher Young and Kenneth Taylor Young of Orleans on December 19th, 1933, Diane was a lifelong resident of Cape Cod who cherished her community and the natural beauty that surrounded her. She graduated from Orleans High School and went on to work in the cafeteria at Barnstable High School, where she formed many lasting friendships.

Diane devoted herself to raising her three sons—Jeffrey, Joshua, and Jack Leonard—in Centerville with their father, Roger Leonard. Later in life, she returned to her childhood home on the town cove in Orleans to care for her mother. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life: her Siamese cats, biking, jigsaw puzzles, and the birds and wildlife that frequented her yard. Known for her generous and kind spirit, Diane befriended many elderly neighbors in the community and helped them with grocery shopping and household chores, always offering a helping hand to those in need.

She is survived by her son Jack T. Leonard and his wife Marina; and her loving granddaughters Nicole, Saskia, and Lisette Leonard. She was predeceased by her sons Jeffrey and Joshua Leonard.

A graveside service for close friends and family will be held on Friday, October 10th at 11:00 AM at Brewster Cemetery, Lower Road, Brewster, MA.
