Doris Evelyn Mackay (Bernard) of Harwich, MA. passed away peacefully in her home on February 13, 2023 at the beautiful age of 88. She was the loving wife of Donald L. Mackay. Doris was Born in Littleton, New Hampshire and relocated to Hartford CT where she was employed at the Emhart Corporation, which is where she met her future husband, Donald. They married and moved to Windsor, CT. where they raised their four children.
Doris attended Asnuntuck College and Irvine Valley College. She was a skilled amateur artist who spent many of her days painting and people, mostly family and landscapes. Some of her favorite bicoastal places to paint were Laguna Beach and her cottage in Chatham.
She is survived by her loving husband Donald, her three sons, Craig Mackay of Randolph MA., Peter and John Mackay of Irvine, CA., daughters in laws, Fran, Nobuko and Vera, Grandchildren Melissa & Brian Kalinowski, Joseph Mackay and Rachel Mackay, and great grandchildren Noah and Ayla Kalinowski. She is also survived by siblings Rita Bernard, Carol Allen, Johnny Bernard and Patricia Imrie. Doris is predeceased by her daughter Michelle Mackay and brother Phillip Bernard.
A celebration of her life will be held at St. Christopher's Church at 625 Main Street in Chatham MA, on Friday March 3rd, 2023 at 11 AM. Burial will be held privately.
