Dorothy Ruth (MacConnach) Switzer, 93, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023. She was the loving wife of Arthur James Switzer, Jr. who predeceased her in 2012 and to whom she was married for 61 years. She was the beloved mother of Richard L. Switzer and Debra M. Savitt and the beloved grandmother of six grandchildren: Emelie (Craig), Julie, Abigail (Lee), Steven (Pam), Alexandra (Drew), and Thomas Benjamin. She also leaves behind seven great grandchildren.
Dorothy graduated in 1951 with a bachelor’s degree from Adelphi University, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority.
In 1989, Dorothy and Arthur retired to East Orleans, Cape Cod, where they enjoyed golfing, biking, and walking outdoors. She was an avid reader and lifelong baseball fan, always supporting the local team where she lived, beginning with the Brooklyn Dodgers and ending with the Boston Red Sox.
Dorothy had an amazing life and will be missed by all of us.
