Ellie went on to receive her BS in Education from Boston University. Ellie married the late Theodore “Bud” Armington Fisher on June 20, 1942. They lived in Dover, MA before moving to East Orleans in 1957.
Ellie taught elementary school in Carlisle, Dover, and Orleans, MA. She retired in 1977 after teaching in Orleans for 20 years. Until her move to assisted living in 2010, Ellie was an active member of the First Parish Brewster (Unitarian Universalist). She also held positions with the Business and Professional Women, The Orleans Council on Aging, and Boston University Alumni Association. She volunteered for the French Cable Station and the Road to Recovery. She was a driver for the latter for seventeen years. Among her many memberships was that in Descendants of the Mayflower.
Loving, adventurous, generous, and gracious, Ellie treated every person with respect and dignity. She loved to travel and took numerous trips all over the world with her late husband, Bud, and later with her dear friend, Dr. Chris Mamonas. She volunteered for many charities and enjoyed gardening and reading. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends. Ellie is survived by eight nieces, four nephews, six grandnieces, and seven grandnephews. They all loved her very much.
