

HAMILTON – Eleanor M. (McNamara), age 98, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband, John M. Hamilton, Sr. in 2005. Born in Woonsocket, RI and raised in Millville, MA, she was the daughter of Roger A. and Mary M. (McMancus) McNamara. She was a graduate of Boston Bouvé College, now part of Northeastern, with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. She taught Physical Education in the Millbury school system before becoming a homemaker to raise her two children. In 1967, she returned as a third grade teacher in the town of Millbury until she retired to Cape Cod.
She and her husband enjoyed an active retirement there with many friends, bike-riding, swimming and traveling. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Orleans and a daily Communicant until age prevented it. Above all else, her life was filled with love and devotion to all her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son John M. Hamilton, Jr. of Nebraska, daughter Mary Genois of Orleans, her cousin Joan Esposito of Uxbridge, six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Roger A. McNamara and Charles M. McNamara, and her granddaughter Katie.
She will be buried alongside her husband in a private family ceremony at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
