Ellen D. Ford

BREWSTER—Ellen Spaulding (Dunbar) Ford, beloved wife of Francis F. Cattuti, died on October 31, 2015. She was born on My 8, 1946, in Bayonne, NJ, to the late Herbert Spaulding Dunbar and his wife Veronica McHugh. Ellen grew up on Cape Cod and spent most of her formative years in Chatham where her family was active in boating, sailing, and running a summer cottage rental business. Ellen graduated from Chatham High School and received her Master’s Degree from New Hampshire College. She was a licensed social worker. Ellen enjoyed working in the field of geriatrics and was employed throughout her career in social work at local agencies on the Cape as well as Jewish Family and Services in Palm Beach County, Florida. Most recently she enjoyed her work as the Director of the Chatham Council on Aging. Following her retirement in 2013 she greatly enjoyed her work in genealogy and becoming a member of the Daughers of the American Revolution. Survivors include her daughter Wendy Anne Foley and her husband Luke of Mansfield, MA; her son Ian Dunbar Ford and his wife Alexis with twin daughters Olivia Ellen and Mackenzie Anne Ford of Hingham, MA. She was also previously married to Peter B. Ford, now deceased and the former Harbormaster for the town of Chatham for 20 years. Ellen will be cremated and a memorial service will be held privately at a later date with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brewster Animal Rescue League of Cape Cod, MA.
