Eunice was the daughter of Norman & Alice Woodside and sister to Norman Woodside of Eastham, MA. Born in Somerville, MA, Eunice attended & graduated from Somerville High School class of 1961. There is where she met her high school sweetheart & love of her life Arthur Amerault. All it took was Arthur asking to walk her home one day & from that time forward they would walk together for the rest of their lives as one.
In the fledgling years of their marriage Eunice worked at Essex Savings Bank in Winter Hill, Somerville. Then moving her family to Eastham, MA she continued working at the Eastham Elementary School Lunch Room, then onto Bradlees in Orleans. She then secured an office job at Jennings Plumbing. Eunice ran the office for many years before purchasing the business with Arthur, which is now known as Amerault Plumbing & Heating, for over the past 35 years. A business she joyfully passed onto her eldest son David to continue.
Eunice loved traveling, especially to her father’s native birthplace Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia. She especially loved leaf peeping with her family & “mystery trips” to all spots around New England. She & Arthur honeymooned in New York at Niagara Falls and made sure all her kids made it out there to enjoy the beauty of the falls with her. She took her family on many trips to visit relatives in Toronto & PEI for them to enjoy the Canadian beauty as she so loved. She especially loved the sunsets at any of the beautiful Eastham bay beaches. Over the years she would travel to many skating, soccer, baseball, & basketball matches to cheer her children on. She then would enjoy that same time with her wonderful grandchildren.
Besides travel, Pembroke Welsh Corgi’s & Birds are where her interests lay. She owned a few Corgi’s over the years and often dog sat a bunch. She never turned down a good corgi lick in the ear & loved every minute of them on her lap. She had many bird feeders out her window so she could enjoy them while she worked often looking them up to see what they were & collecting feathers if left behind.
Eunice loved the camaraderie & goodwill The Pythian Sisters organization represented, she was a member & leader of the organization for over 65 years, welcoming many friends & family into the group.
Eunice leaves behind three of her four children, David Amerault, of Eastham, Scott Amerault & his partner Rebecca Hassan of Eastham as well as Michael Amerault & wife Melanie of Orleans. Brother, Norman, Woodside, also of Eastham. Eunice is predeceased by her husband Arthur who passed in August 2022 & daughter Lisa who recently passed December 1 of cancer. Eunice has many grandchildren Andrew, Corey, Snow, Chelsea & Ryan. She was also a Great Grandmother to Beckham, who she loved to have him blow kisses to her! She will be greatly missed by many wonderful friends who as she would say “are family to her”.
Eunice spent the last few years living at Liberty Commons Nursing Facility in Chatham, MA, where she was selected to be the Resident Council President. She made many wonderful loving friendships with the residents & staff. She loved sitting & talking with all at any time, you could always find her in the main room with her gal pals or out with Ralphie the corgi running into greet all!
A memorial will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at The Eastham United Methodist Church, 3200 State HWY, Eastham, MA with refreshments to follow. Burial will be private.
Family is asking for any donations to please go to Broad Reach Healthcare & Hospice at 390 Orleans Rd, North Chatham, MA 02650.
