

Gary Arthur Higgins, 65 of Brewster, died peacefully at home after a brief illness. He is survived by his partner Sue Clark, daughter Candy Auletto of Pennsylvania, son Duane Higgins of Florida, sister Cindy Brickley of Melrose, brothers Craig Higgins and Glenn Higgins both of Orleans and extended family members Molly McIntire of Chatham, Jamie Alexander of Eastham and Nora and Larri Potts of Eastham plus spouses, nephews, nieces and 11 grandchildren who adore him.
Gary grew up in Orleans near Rock Harbor where he developed his love of boats and fishing. He graduated from Nauset Regional High School in 1966, and Clarkson University in 1970. He was a civil engineer with the Massachusetts Highway Dept. for 32 years. After retiring Gary was most happy on the water in his 18 ft. Hewes boat, fly fishing for stripers and albacore or bow hunting for whitetails in New Jersey and Maine. He loved to take friends and family fishing, especially his grandchildren, and was happiest when they caught fish.
Visitation will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home 77 Eldredge Park Way Orleans, MA on Monday November 17 from 4 – 7 PM. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday November 18 at 11:00 AM in Orleans Cemetery.
