
Henry was born, raised and educated in The Bronx, NY and graduated from New York University. He was the husband of Alma Eleanor (Weiss) Wentland, they were married in 1948. Besides his wife, he survivors include two daughters, Joyce E. Wentland of Brighton, MA and Barbara W. Ashley of Cockeysville, MD, her husband Bradford, and three children Brandon, Christopher, and Alyson.
During WWII, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1942 and served as a B-24 pilot in Europe. He flew 14 missions over Germany and was discharged as 1st Lieutenant in November 1945. He continued to fly in the Air Force Reserves at Mitchell Field, Long Island, NY.
He started work in NY Telephone in 1946, became a District Sales Mgr in Manhattan and Westchester in New York and retired in 1980 moving to Orleans on Cape Cod. He was an active as an Officer in the United States Power Squadrons and the Computer Club of Cape Cod. As a member of the Orleans and Chatham Yacht Clubs he enjoyed sailboat racing and repeated cruised to Nantucket, Martha Vineyard and Mystic, CT. Also enjoyed golf, tennis, and platform tennis. Together with his wife, they traveled extensively to Europe, Canada, Mexico and were occasional “snow birds” in Naples, FL.
Private burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
