

John ‘Jack’ Hurst passed away suddenly on January 11, 2015. He was the devoted husband and best friend of Katherine ‘Kitty’ Hurst for 34 years. Jack met Kitty in 1975, they lived a life of happiness, love and spontaneity. Always knowing that the both of them were meant to be together forever. He is survived by his three children Daniel of Brewster, Holly of Brewster, John of Boston and his beloved granddaughter Kayleigh of Brewster. Jack loved nothing more than to be surrounded by his friends and family. He also leaves behind his sister in law Georgette and nephews Bob and Neil Hurst of Brewster. He was predeceased by his parents Lillian and Francis Hurst, his brother Bob Hurst and his Saint Bernard Heidi. Jack grew up in West Hartford, CT., and graduated from Conard High School. Jack moved to Cape Cod in 1974 to help his brother Bob to build their parents’ house in Eastham. He worked in the hardware, mortgage and carpentry businesses. During his life he developed a passion for horses which included trail rides, hay rides and his two chincoteague ponies Gingersnap & Firefly. Jack introduced his love for horses to is daughter Holly at a young age. Holly grew to also have a passion for riding. Another love of Jacks was his love for Vermont. Jack and his sons built a beautiful cabin in Vermont in the woods. Jack and his sons frequented Vermont to get away, relax and spend time together. We would like to thank Brewster rescue for their assistance. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jacks memory can be made to charity of your choice. Visiting hours Thursday, January 15th 5-8 pm at Nickerson Funeral Home, Orleans MA. His funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster on Friday at 11am.
