

John Joseph Ullo, 65, resident of Trinity Florida, formerly of Newtown Connecticut and Belmont Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on Wednesday July 11, 2012. John is survived by his wife of 30 years Patricia (Haug) Ullo formerly of Fort Walton Beach, FL, daughter Megan E. Ullo of Arlington, VA, brothers Robert C. Ullo of Lunenberg, MA and Thomas E. Ullo of Tewksbury, MA and a large extended family. He was preceeded in death by his beloved son, Jonathan Robert (17), his father Guy Joseph Ullo and his mother Doris May (Hawes) Ullo.
John grew up outside of Boston, graduated from Belmont High (1965), received his Bachelor’s of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (’69) and his PhD in Physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After a short stint at Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, PA, he was employed by Schlumberger Oilfield Services for over 35 years. He loved his work as a research scientist both in oil exploration and other energy fields. He “retired” from Schlumberger in 2009; however, he continued to consult for them, various other companies and universities through John Ullo LLC, a technical consulting company, specializing in nanotechnology.
John’s work took the family to various states and for an assignment in Surrey, England. “Home” remained their beloved house in Brewster on Cape Cod. He continued to play golf often and catch a Red Sox game whenever he could.
Calling hours will be held in at the Nickerson Funeral Home in Orleans, MA on Tuesday, July 17th from 2-4 and 7-9. A funeral service will be held at the Cape Cod Bible Alliance in Brewster on Wednesday, July 18th at 11:00am. Interment will be at Brewster Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday the 18th followed by a reception at the Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster.
