

ORLEANS – WATTS, John Arthur “Jack” passed away at home on June 4, 2016. Since the 1950’s, he was the long term companion of Mark Lowell.
Jack was born in New York to the late Arthur and Helen (Allen) Watts. After living in Manhattan and Connecticut, Jack moved to Cape Cod in the early 80’s, where he and Mr. Lowell made their residence, first in Harwichport and then South Orleans. Jack was a graduate of Cornell University, with a major in chemical engineering. He had worked for Sherwatt Equipment & Manufacturing Co. – a family owned wire cloth business. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. Stationed on the USS Palau from 1944-1946, he was an electronic technician in charge of ship communication. He was an accomplished pilot and enthusiastic captain. Jack shared many travel adventures with Mark and their many friends.
Jack is survived by his brother Robert Watts of Pensylvania; brother-in-law Geoffrey W. Pelletier of Mashpee, MA; nieces Deborah P. Karas of Sandwich, MA, Janette H. Pelletier (Edward McDonough) of Manchaca, TX, Denise Ardelan (Michael) of St. Charles, IL, Patricia Gunnerman, Sandra Courtney, nephew John A. Watts (Deborah) of NY, nephew-in-law Angelo Juliano. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Beatrice W. Pelletier, and niece Lynn P. Juliano, her daughter Kristen A. Juliano.
Visiting hours will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 am on Friday, June 10th at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA 02653. The funeral service will be held on the same day at 11 am at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Burial will follow in Orleans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack’s memory to the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod.
