

Kathleen Thomas, 88, of Brewster MA, passed away peacefully on May 2nd, 2022 due to natural causes. She was born on November 12th, 1933, the third child of five girls, to Margaret (nye Lydon) and Philip Browne in Brooklyn, New York. She married her lifelong friend and love, Harold Thomas, in August 1954 and they enjoyed 68 years of married life. They worked and raised their family in New Jersey and happily retired to Cape Cod in 2004.
Kathleen attended Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, NY and had a long and fulfilling career in special education. While working initially as a teacher’s aide, she subsequently attended William Paterson University, NJ, where she graduated with a baccalaureate degree and Montclair State University, NJ with a master’s degree in education. Her devotion and love for students with special needs was truly amazing and a remarkable gift for so many children.
Kathleen was first and foremost a dedicated mother to her six children who she treasured and surrounded with love. She was also a wonderful grandmother who thoroughly spoiled her 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was a vivacious personality and would always light up a room with her joy and laughter. Everyone she met felt her compassionate and loving heart.
Kathleen also had many personal interests and was an avid reader, an exercise enthusiast, a gourmet cook and a watercolor painter. She possessed a rare combination of intellect, wit, and a loving heart and invariably people felt happier in her presence. She represented the good that we all need in our lives.
Kathleen is predeceased by her son Glenn. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Harold, and her children, Paul, Peter, Kathy, James, and Karen.
A Mass for the Celebration of Life will be held at Saint Joan of Arc Church in Orleans, MA, on Saturday May, 14, 2022 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to organizations providing humanitarian relief to the Ukrainian people, as Kathleen always felt strongly about caring for those that are suffering.
