
Margaret Morley Galvin passed away peacefully on December 24, 2011. She was born in Manchester NH on February 20, 1924 and was the daughter of Patrick and Hannah (McGrath) Morley. She was the older sister to her loving late brother, Dr. John J. Morley. Margaret attended and graduated from the Westside High school in Manchester, NH.
Margaret moved to Boston during her early years and began work at the John Hancock Insurance Company where she became a private executive secretary to the Vice President for many years. Margaret was passionate about travelling and toured Europe and many countries in these years.
While on vacation Margaret met her husband, Maurice (Maurie) Galvin and they shared a loving marriage together living in Yonkers, NY and then retiring to Cape Cod. In Brewster, MA, she and Maurie spent many happy and active years together. She was a member of the Ladies Golf League and a longtime volunteer at Our Lady of the Cape Parish and an avid bridge player in many groups.
Soon after Maurie passed away in 1992, Margaret moved to the Mayflower Place where she spent many happy, independent years in the company of warm and loving people and caretakers. Her warm smile, loving personality and cheerful outlook added to everyone’s life that met and befriended her. Her strength and positive manner was an inspiration to all. Above all, Margaret cherished her family.
Margaret is survived by a large and loving family of four nieces and nephews; Beth and William Dean of Dover, MA and their five children, Will, Sam, Liza, Jonathan and Taylor Dean; Drs Michael and Kathy Morley of Newton, MA, John and Glenn Morley of Pomfret, VT and their two daughters, Ellie and Maggie Morley, and Will and Maryann Morley- Friend of Hamilton, MA and their two children, Emily and William. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Therese Morley, and cousin Marge Burke of Maryland and many other loving cousins and friends and family who have predeceased her.
The memorial mass for Margaret Galvin will be held on January 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Cape, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster, MA. Burial will be private.
