Orleans - Nancy Knodell McMorrow passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2022 surrounded by her entire family two months shy of her 93rd birthday. Nancy was born in Milton, Mass on Sept 20, 1929. The second daughter to J. Edgar Knodell and Sallie (Haraden) Knodell, she graduated from Boston University in 1950 after a year studying abroad at the University of Oslo in Norway after the war. While at BU she met her husband, John Palmer McMorrow of Wellesley, MA, and in 1953 they were married in Orleans. Nancy had many accomplishments in life and after moving to Holliston with John and raising her two children Jane and Jeff, she began a very successful career as a real estate broker. After many years in Holliston, Nancy and John moved back to Orleans to retire in the place they felt they had never really left and she took up many hobbies and volunteer work. Her favorites were always her garden, picking beach plums and making beach plum jelly, and entertaining many a friend...including the must be attended horse race watching (and betting) parties in the Spring! She was an exceptional woman with many talents and an extraordinary capacity to enjoy life to its fullest. She will be missed dearly by all who had the opportunity to know her.
She is survived by her sister Joan K. Carreiro of Hyannis, her son Jeffery P. McMorrow of Orleans, her daughter Jane M. Ray and husband Scott Ray of Virginia, and three grandchildren Michael Houle of Austin, TX, Connor Ray also of Austin, TX and Alexis Knodell Ray of Virginia.
All are invited to attend and visit with Nancy's family from 2-4pm on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Parkway, Orleans.
A graveside service and burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Orleans Fire and Rescue or the Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary for whom she volunteered for many years.
