The world lost a bright light on January 27, 2026 as Nancy J. Nadeau passed unexpectedly at her home in Truro. Nancy was born on March 28, 1973 in Woonsocket, RI and grew up in Uxbridge, MA surrounded by a large extended family where it was common to have gatherings of fifty relatives and cousins celebrating special occasions and holidays together. She graduated from Blackstone Valley Technical High School where she excelled at basketball, scoring 1,000 points in her career. She went on to play at Quinsigamond College where her team advanced to the national finals. Nancy was inducted into her high school’s Athletic Hall of Fame for her basketball achievements.
Nancy began visiting Provincetown in 1996. She was known for her infectious smile, hard work, and deep care for others. She met the love of her life, Laura Davis, in 2007 and together they built and ran Cosmos Catering, a venture which touched and celebrated so many. Nancy was always the first to offer assistance whenever anyone, human or fur baby, was sick or injured. Anyone who crossed her path was considered a friend, and her friends were family to her. Nancy had a true gift for connecting with everyone and remembering and asking about events in each person’s life. She was a super-fan of the Duke University men’s basketball team. She spent cold days on the flats digging for clams, and warm days in the garden making things around her beautiful. She loved building fires at home or on the beach with friends. Having endured the tragic loss of her cousin at a young age, Nancy vowed to live life to its fullest, seeking adventure and new experiences. Nancy loved traveling to warm places with Laura, especially Mexico and the beloved island of Vieques.
Nancy was predeceased by her father Roger Nadeau (d. 2023) and is survived by her mother Claudette Nadeau of Uxbridge, her brother Jimmy Nadeau of Webster, MA, nieces Nikki Nadeau of Woonsocket, RI, Jamie Wood of Uxbridge, MA, as well as great nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be deeply missed by her wife Laura, her entire Comos family, her Provincetown friends, and especially by her beloved fur babies Olivia and Junior.
A visitation to pay respects to the family is planned on Saturday, Feb 7, 2026 at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way Orleans from 10-12p. A funeral mass will be held at 1pm at St Joan of Arc, Orleans, MA with a reception to follow at The Tap Room at Snow’s, Orleans.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held this summer.
