Went to St. Boniface Catholic High School and belonged to St. Boniface Martyr Church in Sea Cliff, NY. Graduated from Glen Cove High School in 1981 and attended CW Post LIU college. Patrick married the love of his life Barbara McShane. They were just about to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Loving brother of the (late)Mark Winckler, Christopher Winckler, Karen (Michael) Kaplan and Pamela Winckler. Uncle to Joshua Kaplan and Anna (Brandon) Bradley.
Patrick also leaves behind many loving friends from NY, Cape Cod and around the country, he was also a friend of Bill’s. He has many cousins on cape cod, among them the Norgeots and their families who helped him realize his life's dream of living, working, and fishing on cape cod. He and Barbara have been happily living on cape cod for over 5 years.
Patrick grew up in Glen Cove NY and was a Chef who started his career at Restaurant Zanghi in Glen Cove at the age of 16. He worked in the restaurant business for 46 years. He spent his life growing up on water in Glen Cove and the summers with his family and relatives in cape cod. He became an expert fisherman spending most of his free time fishing. He loved sports growing up playing pee-wee football, little league baseball and basketball. Later in life he played in a softball league with his friends. He worked as a chef in more than a few dozen restaurants, specialty schools (American Boychoir, Webb Institute etc.), assisted living facility and a half dozen country clubs over the years, the last one as a sous chef at Cape Cod National. It was working at the country club over the years that he found his love for golf. He was also an avid skeet shooter and belonged to the Nauset Rod and Gun Club.
Pat had a love for life, an infinite smile, and the most positive attitude of anyone you will ever meet. When things got bad, he would say, and truly believe, things were going to be all right. His attitude and his strong belief in his faith got him through the best of time and the worst of times. He never wasted a moment, there was always something to do or something to see, time was too precious to waste. He was an inspiration to anyone who met him! He was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all.
He leaves a void on earth, but he will flourish in heaven!!
In lieu of flowers contribution to Lung Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated.
