Cape Cod Photographer –
Richard was born near Philadelphia at Abington Hospital in 1954, attended Melrose Academy, LaSalle High School, Pennsylvania State University and Antonelli School of Photography. He worked professionally on Cape Cod as a Photographer/Videographer.
He is predeceased by his parents George and Grace Talmage and sister Lisa Talmage of East Orleans and Mashpee. He is survived by sister and brother-in-law Jayne and Tim O’Farrell of Duxbury, nephew Colin O’Farrell and wife Rachel of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Hilda Ojeda of Buenos Aires, Aunt Celeste Bryne of Texas and cousins from Florida, Texas, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Colorado, California, Washington, D.C., New Mexico, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Nevada, and friends from LaSalle High School.
Richard’s talent was portraiture, the most complex photography skill to master. Awarded a coveted internship with Monte Zucker in Washington, D.C., he graduated first in his class at photography school. He went on to be lead photographer for “weddings on cape cod” one of the first online wedding sites and served a national leadership role with WEVA (Wedding and Event Videographers Association). His last project was as a volunteer with Duxbury 2020, an affiliate of Plymouth 400, with Richard’s portraits and images featured in a 200+ page essay publication “Duxbury: Our Pilgrim Story”.
Family vacations were spent in East Orleans in August for years and the family adopted the Cape as home in 1984. There was sailing, fishing, reading and just being a family together. Richard moved permanently to the Cape by 1990. When his mother and sister moved to Mashpee, he was actively involved in Lisa’s care for fifteen years.
An avid walker, Richard supported his teams – Patriots, Eagles and Phillies - and was a crossword puzzler who loved history, travel, and politics. To support Richard’s interest in the National Parks, “plant a tree” memorials in Richard’s memory are available at www.alivingtribute.org for Colorado and Wyoming National Forests. The burial is private in the Orleans Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life in Duxbury on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Alden House Historic Site, 105 Alden Street, Duxbury, MA 02332.
