

Born August 12, 1932 in Cortland, NY to the late Robert and Esther Cox. Roberta graduated from Homer Central High School in 1950. In 1951 she entered the SUNY at Cortland and graduated in 1954, teaching kindergarten in Schenectady, NY.
In 1956 Roberta married Donovan Cornish in Homer NY and then relocated to New London, Connecticut. They soon moved to Springfield Massachusetts where they raised their 2 sons. Roberta worked as a preschool teacher at Foster Memorial Church for years before being hired as the Asst. Director then Director of Childhood Education for the United Way in Springfield, Massachusetts at the Springfield Day Nursery. It was there that she earned her Masters of Education degree from Wheelock College in Boston.
'Bobby' and Don retired to the the Cape in 1992. Always active in her church, she was an active member of the choir and preschool as well as Sunday school in Foster Memorial and in Eastham at the Eastham Methodist Church. She also co-authored a book on the history of Eastham while she was volunteering at the Eastham Historical Society.
Proceed in death by her husband Donovan she is survived by her sons Donovan J Cornish of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Jeffrey A Cornish of Weymouth Massachusetts; and 5 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, January 22 at the Eastham Methodist Church, 3200 Rt 6 with the burial following at Evergreen Cemetery, Eastham.
